باید توجه داشت که این سیستم فقط برای روغن آزاد بکار می‌رود و برای روغن‌های امولسیونی قابل استفاده نمی‌باشد. جداکننده‌های نوع API و CPI برای حذف و کاهش روغن‌های امولسیون طراحی نمی‌گردند بلکه فقط برای روغن‌های آزاد مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرند. اندازه استاندارد قطر ذرات روغن برای حذف روغن ۱۵۰ میکرون می‌باشد.
