آب چشمه‌های تلخ
مهمترین ماده شیمیایی که در آب این چشمه‌ها موجود است و موجب تلخی مزه آنها می‌گردد، سولفات منیزیم می‌باشد، اما علاوه بر سولفات منیزیم ، اکثرا سولفات سدیم و کلرور سدیم هم در آنها وجود دارد.
- سرچشمه‌ها : مهمترین چشمه‌های تلخ در آلمان می‌باشند. چشمه فریدریک هال در ماینینگن و چشمه مدکنت هایم در ورتنبرگ است.
- فواید آن برای بدن : آبهای تلخ اثرات خوبی در برطرف کردن یبوست و چاقی دارند. آشامیدن آب این چشمه‌ها برای اشخاص ضعیف و کم خون و مسلول و نظیر اینها خوب نیست.
چشمه‌های کلرور سدیم
در آب این چشمه‌ها بیش از یک گرم املاح در لیتر موجود است و بیشتر این املاح نیز کلرور سدیم می‌باشد.
- سرچشمه‌ها : چشمه‌های کیسینگن و نوی‌هاس واقع در آلمان از مهمترین چشمه‌ها می‌باشند.
- فواید آن برای بدن : اشخاصی که مبتلا به سو هاضمه و یا چاقی زیاد می‌باشند و یا دستگاه تنفسی آنها خوب کار نکند، بر اثر آشامیدن این آبها بهتر می‌شوند.
آب های آهن‌دار
آبهایی که در یک لیتر آب آنها بیش از ده میلی گرم آهن به حالت محلول موجود باشد، از آنجائی که آبهای آهنی زود تجزیه و آهن آنها ته نشین می‌شود. معمولا در همان سرچشمه آنرا می‌آشامند.

آبهای گوگردی
این آبها دارای هیدروژن سولفوره آزاد و یا هیدروسولفور و یا هر دوی اینها می‌باشند ( بوی هیدروژن سولفوره ، شبیه بوی تخم مرغ گندیده است )
- سرچشمه‌ها : آبهای گوگردی در اسک لاشاپل ( آخن ـ آلمان ) همچنین در بادن نزدیک وینه و در اکس لبن هم موجود است. در ایران نیز آب اسک ، نمونه‌ای از آبهای گوگردی است.
- فواید آن برای بدن : آبهای گوگردی در درمان روماتیسم و امراض جلدی و مسمومیتهای فلزی تجویز می‌شود.
آبهای آهکدار
این آبها دارای نمکهایی هستند که قسمت اعظم آنها کربنات اسید کلسیم و کربنات اسید منیزیم و گچ و انیدرید کربنیک می‌باشد.
- سرچشمه‌ها : در آلمان چشمه‌های آن در ویلدونگن و وایسن بورگ و محلهای دیگر واقع می‌باشد. در ایران آب گرم راه همدان نمونه‌ای از آبهای آهکدار می‌باشد.
- فواید آن برای بدن : آبهای آهکدار در درمان نارسایی کلیه و درمان ناراحتی اعصاب و درمان اگزمای پوست و غیره توصیه شده‌اند.
آب چشمه‌های آرسنیک‌دار
این چشمه‌ها دارای مقدار جزئی آرسنیک هستند که بعلت کمی مقدار اثر کشندگی ندارد بلکه بطور کلی برای تقویت بکار می‌رود.
- سرچشمه‌ها : محل این چشمه‌های دورک هایمر ماکس کول واقع در آلمان و چشمه لویکو واقع در شمال ایتالیا می‌باشد.
- فواید آن برای بدن : آشامیدن آب این چشمه‌ها برای رفع کم خونی و ضعف ناشی از کمی غذا و غیره مفید است.
آب های یددار
آب این چشمه‌ها را بیشتر برای آشامیدن و نه حمام گرفتن مصرف می‌کنند و ید موجود در آنها ، هم دستگاه گوارش و هم غدد گلو را تحریک به کار و ترشح می‌کند.
