ممبراین غالبا مولکول های درشت را نگه داشته و به مولکول ها و اجزای کوچکتر آزا دانه اجازه گذر می دهد.روش RO معمولابرای تولید آب آشامیدنی از آب دریا و حذف مولکولهای نمک آن بکار میرود .
