هوای فشرده (خروجی از کمپرسورها) در بسیاری از کارخانجات و صنایع استفاده می شود . ازآن جمله می توان به موارد زیر اشاره کرد :
1- جهت عمل کننده های پنوماتیک نظیر جک ها و ابزار آلات بادی و Air Motor
2- جهت سیستم های کنترلی ماشین آلات و ابزار دقیق
3- جهت استفاده مستقیم در پروسه (نظیر سیستم اسپری رنگ در کارخانجات ، پلاستیک سازی و Blow Molding ، خشک نمودن محصول یابسته بندی مربوطه وغیره ) .
4- رطوبت موجود در هوای فشرده باعث خوردگی و آسیب دیدن تجهیزات کارخانه (مثلا خوردگی لوله کشی ، جک ها وشیرآلات پنوماتیکی در صنایعی مانند صنایع نفت و پتروشیمی ، نساجی ، تولید سیمان ، کاشی ، چینی ، فلزات وغیره ) و حتی در بعضی مواقع سبب پایین آمدن کیفیت محصولات می گردد (مثلا در سیستم اسپری رنگ کارخانجات اتومبیل سازی ، دستگاه های تولید کفش P.U. ، صنایع غذایی ، دارویی و غیره ) .
5- بنابراین جهت کاهش هزینه های تعمیر و نگهداری و توقف خط تولید ، افزایش بهره وری و افزایش کیفیت محصولات بهتراست هوای فشرده خشک و عاری از رطوبت باشد . بدین منظور از درایرهای دسیکانت یا تبریدی و تجهیزات مربوطه استفاده می گردد که بعد از کمپرسور ، نصب می شوند و هوای خشک و عاری از رطوبت مهیا می گردد .
