2. زمان تماس کلر با آب : با افزایش زمان تماس کلر با آب ، تاثیرگندزدائی کلر بیشتر میگردد. لذا به غلظت کلر کمتری نیاز می باشد.
3. PH آب : با افزایش PH آب تاثیرگندزدائی کلر کمترمیگردد. لذا به غلظت کلر بیشتری نیاز می باشد.
4. دمایی آب : با افزایش دمای آب ، تاثیر گندزدائی کلر بیشتر میگردد .لذا به غلطت کلر کمتری نیاز است .
5. مواد خارجی موجود در آب : با افزایش کدورت آب ( به دلیل امکان تماس کمتر کلر با میکرارگانیسمها ) تاثیر گندزدائی کلر کمتر می گردد.لذا به غلظت کلر بیشتری نیاز می باشد.
اندازه گیری میزان کلر توسط کیتهای کلرسنجی (OTO یا DPD):
OTO : 5 قطره از محلول OTO را در داخل کیت کلرسنجی OTO ریخته سپس آن را تا خط نشان با آب پر نمائید درب آن را ببندید.با معکوس کردن کیت ، محلول را بهم بزنید.بر حسب میزان غلظت کلر ، رنگ محلول فوق از زرد کمرنگ تا زرد پررنگ تغییر می نماید . با مقایسه رنگ ایجاد شده با رنگ روی بدنه کیت می توان میزان کلرباقیمانده کل را برحسب میلی گرم در لیتر(PPM ) قراعت نمود.
DPD قرصی : یک عدد قرص را در داخل کیت DPD انداخته سپس آن را تا خط نشان با آب پر نمائید درب آن را ببندید.با معکوس کردن کیت ، محلول را بهم بزنید.بر حسب میزان غلظت کلر ، رنگ محلول فوق از قرمز کمرنگ تا قرمز پررنگ تغییر می نماید.با مقایسه رنگ ایجاد شده ، با رنگ روی بدنه کیت DPD می توان میزان کلر باقیمانده کل و یا آزاد ( بر حسب نوع قرص مورد استفاده ) را به میلی گرم در لیتر(PPM ) محاسبه نمود.
